The Alzheimer’s Association works on a global, national and local level to enhance care and support for all those affected by Alzheimer’s and other dementias. We are here to help. We hold educational workshops, host support groups, have a 24/7 1-800 helpline and are the largest nonprofit funder of Alzheimer’s research in the world.
Central Iowa RSVP (Retired & Senior Volulnteer Program) North provides adult volunteers aged 55+ from Hamilton and Webster Counties quality opportunities to share their skills, interests, and life experiences in response to a wide variety of community needs. RSVP provides an effective volunteer management infrastructure for screening, recruiting and placing volunteers in assignments that will enhance the services of public, nonprofit and health care agencies while also enriching the lives of the volunteers.
Citizen’s Central offers active adults over the age of 55 a wide range of activities and entertainment, including social activities, games, parties, billiards, adult education classes, exercise equipment, health, and wellness activities (including yoga), and computer lab with Internet capabilities.
Lunch is provided five days a week through a Congregate Meal Program for a suggested donation for those 55+. Diners under age 55 are welcome–call for the cost of lunch if you are under 55 years of age. A Salad Bar is available to diners with a lunch reservation. Advance reservations are necessary.

Deercreek Apartments offer affordable living for persons age 62 and over and/or having a disability. Features include an entrance security system, community room, congregate meals on site, chapel and hair salon. Rent is based upon a percentage of the household’s monthly adjusted income.
Elderbridge Agency on Aging provides support for the elderly, their families and caregivers. Our mission is to enable older Iowans to live with dignity, well being and independence. Our services include Elder Rights Specialists, a Senior Nutrition Program, Family Caregiver Support, Case Management, Senior Medicare Patrol along with Information and assistance and options counselors.
The Experience Works Senior Community Service Employment Program (SCSEP) provides paid community service assignments at local public and non-profit organizations, training, referral to needed services and job search assistance. With updated skills, participants use their community service training as a springboard to permanent jobs with local employers.
Foster Grandparents are men and women age 55 and older who serve as educational mentors for children age 3-10 in local schools, Head Start and other nonprofit locations. Those who meet income guidelines of less than $22,000 annually may qualify for a stipend of up to $3,000 per year. Training provided, free meals while working, assistance with travel costs to and from school each day. Paid vacations and holidays.
Northridge Apartments offers quality apartment living for persons age 55 and older who meet income guidelines. Amenities include appliances, laundry rooms on each floor and phone entry system. Northridge Apartments is a Low Income Housing Tax Credit property and is managed by the Fort Dodge Housing Agency.
Income-based housing for seniors 62+ and disabled adults. Project-based Section 8 assistance/HUD eligible. Studio and one and two bedroom apartments are available. All utilities are included in the rent and pets under 30 lbs. are permitted. Amenities include computer center, exercise room, laundry facilities, party room and media room. Non-smoking building.
